Good Oldies

Well, since there aren't any new games out lately, I thought I would do a little feature on 4 games that are old, but still fun, even today. I'm not a particularly old gamer, I started playing PC games in about 98', so my idea of old might not be everyones. Also, probably worth mentioning that these are NOT in order of importance only in order of me-think-o-them...ness. I also know there are better old game then these, I just didn't play them. Also, I've decided to start subtitling the images I post, I don't know how the format I'm using will work, but I'll give it a try anyway.

Age of Empires 2

Well, this was the game that got me hooked into PC gaming. AoE2 had an easy to use and had fun to get into interface that was simple yet still great.

I actually learned alot about history from AoE2, its historical accuracy was very good.
The virtual encyclopedia it came with made it even better. AoE2 may be quite outdated now, to the point where my system can no longer run it, but it was truly an excellent game.





Black & White


This was a very original game that completely shattered the idea of a typical game. Its to bad more games didn't follow the same idea of originality, gaming today might be a whole lot different.

B&W actually got old fairly fast for me though. Also, the whole "Playing God", thing is a bit of a turn off for someone who thinks the way I do, although of course I know its only a game.

Anyway, Kudos for being so original!

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic

Okay, so this is barely an oldie, at a still young three years old, but,...meh.

KotOR is a game that was truly fun to play. Made by the Canadian based company, Bioware, KotOR is based years before the Star Wars films and games we are familiar with. It broke new ground by being the very first Star Wars RPG.

Being based so long before the original Star Wars films, so the universe is quite a bit different. However, it still retained that Star Wars feel, making it a really enjoyable experience. This game is fun to load up and play, even now, showing its true value and quality.









The Sims

Well, Sims was really something. It brought gaming to the masses, made it accessible, and was generally, well, fun! It simulated day to life, letting people lead alternate lives, trying different things and allowing there imaginations to grow.

It was sometimes tiresome to have to micro-manage small things in your sims life, but that gave it a challenge. Many hard-core gamers considered it sort of lame, but I believe it was something truly beneficial to the gaming community, through inovation, and it paved the way for more new ideas, showing that originality really, REALLY pays.

Its just to bad they over-did the whole expansion pack thing, personally, I think one is too many. If your going to do stuff like that, either put it in the original game, or throw it all together into a sequal, instead of making gamers shell out 20 dollars everytime you add something new.
